About Serena
A versatile harpist with over thirty years performance experience, Serena's passion is sharing the beauty of harp music with others. Whether on stage as part of an orchestra or as a solo performer providing background music at an event, she is equally at home.
Serena performs regularly with orchestras across the state and has been principal harpist of both Oshkosh Symphony and Central Wisconsin Symphony. She holds a Diploma in Harp Performance from the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of Music and is a certified Suzuki Harp Instructor.
Serena began harp studies by the Suzuki method with Mary Kay Waddington at the age of three. She has also studied with Elinor Niemisto at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and Ann Lobotzke in Milwaukee. She was a prize winner of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra's Young Artists Competition and had the honor of soloing with that orchestra. She twice received honorable mention in Milwaukee Symphony's Young Artist Competition and performed side-by-side with that orchestra. Serena studied piano from the age of five through high school and still enjoys accompanying and playing for fun.
An avid aviation enthusiast who holds a Private Pilot's License with an Instrument Rating, Serena also enjoys hiking, biking, and exploring Wisconsin's State Parks.
